Hibiscus Flowers note card
This flower-themed note card is 7"w x 5"h, a perfect birthday card, gift or thank you card for anyone who loves flowers or the color violet. A myriad of flowers and leaves are intricately drawn in varying shades of violet, creating a dense tapestry of botanical elements. The different floral patterns and leaf shapes create a mesmerizing and detailed composition that exhibits a range of textures and shades within the monochromatic scheme. This was such a fun piece to do, in part because it was done with my favorite color, violet. First, I dyed the paper with hibiscus tea. Then I sprinkled it with some lemon juice, which had the effect of pushing the dye around to create pale violet areas with dark violet edges. I wanted to include a lot of different floral shapes, and I did all the drawing with three different violet pens and a violet pencil. The edges of the flowers are where the dark violet edges occurred.
