About Susi

I grew up in New York City, and have been creating art since I was a youngster, starting with needle arts and moving on to garden design in Southern California, where I have lived for the last 40 years.

My current passion is for the Zentangle® method of pattern drawing, using simple strokes in a mindful way to create art.  The resulting patterns are called tangles, and there are several thousand of them!

My office looks like a 2nd-grader’s dream space - I’ve got a huge assortment of colored pens and pencils, as well as paper in hues from the entire rainbow. My current favorites are the pens with glittering metallic ink.

I usually begin a design in black ink and will often color the finished piece, although some pieces were created with colorful inks from the start.  The piece shown to the left was created with 4 different violet pens and colored pencil, on paper that had been dyed with hibiscus tea and lemon juice droplets.

The piece below was done in black and white,

but then I decided to add some color.

You can purchase these designs, and others, at my shop at FineArtAmerica.com, where every design is available in many formats, such as note cards, cell phone cases, tote bags, etc.
